Three years ago, Pipedream Products made headlines with a bold move: a premium collection of silicone penis extensions that disrupted the adult retail industry with realism, quality and intentionality. At a time when many brands were focused on novelty or performance, Pipedream took a different route, centering on connection and comfort.

Today, the company is deepening that vision. With the launch of its latest ultra-thin, dual-density silicone hollow strap-ons—part of its expanding Fantasy X-Tensions line, Pipedream is addressing a growing but often underserved demographic: couples navigating erectile dysfunction (ED), aging-related changes, or post-surgical intimacy challenges.

“At the end of the day, we’re not just making toys,” says Kristian Broms, Chief Design Officer at Pipedream Products. “We’re creating tools for intimacy. Our goal is to help couples reconnect without shame, awkwardness or complicated instructions.”

From taboo to connection

For too long, hollow strap-ons were marketed narrowly, positioned primarily as medical devices for men with ED, often with cold packaging and clinical language. That framing did little to support the emotional complexities that often come with intimacy challenges.

Pipedream is reframing the conversation. Instead of seeing these products as a “fix” for dysfunction, the company is positioning them as wellness aids, a way to foster closeness, reduce anxiety and rebuild intimacy during or after physical changes.

“The truth is, many couples go through periods where sex becomes difficult, physically, emotionally or both,” Broms explains. “We wanted to create something that respects that reality and gives people a gentle, reassuring path back to closeness.”

Whether it’s a result of age, surgery, health conditions like prostate cancer, or the natural ebb and flow of libido, Pipedream’s design philosophy is clear: Connection doesn’t have to stop.

The new strap-ons are crafted with an ultra-thin, dual-density silicone construction. The firm inner core provides the necessary rigidity and support, while the soft, lifelike outer layer offers comfort, realism, and a body-safe texture.

The hollow interior accommodates different sizes comfortably, and the lightweight design helps reduce pressure and fatigue during use, especially important for older users or those new to strap-on play.

“What sets this product apart is the balance of function and empathy,” says Broms. “We engineered the shaft to be thin enough for intimacy, but sturdy enough for reliable use. And the dual-density silicone really adds to the realism. It doesn’t just look natural, it feels natural.”

For the receiving partner, the cushioned head and soft exterior provide a comfortable, skin-safe experience. For the wearing partner, the snug fit and weight distribution allow for movement and physical presence without feeling bulky or artificial.

“It’s not about replacing anyone. It’s about adding something that supports closeness,” says Broms.

Expanding the line: Sizes, styles and inclusivity

Listening to feedback from both consumers and retailers, Pipedream expanded the Fantasy X-Tensions line this year with two new sizes: a 5-inch and a 9-inch model. These additions now round out a range that offers both realism and fantasy, all within the same thoughtful design framework.

“The 5-inch is perfect for older couples or those looking for a more natural, everyday experience,” Broms explains. “It’s discreet, approachable, and designed to feel like a partner and not a prop.”

On the other end, the 9-inch model meets the needs of couples interested in fantasy play or exploring new dynamics, without sacrificing comfort or usability. “Size diversity isn’t about shock value,” Broms says. “It’s about giving people permission to explore and the tools to do it comfortably and confidently.”

This range allows retailers to serve a broader set of consumer stories, from aging couples reclaiming intimacy to adventurous partners looking for something new.

“This product belongs in a section that says ‘Let’s get closer,’ not ‘Let’s go bigger.’ It’s a mindset shift. And when stores get it right, they see results.”

A big part of Pipedream’s success comes from how it supports retailers in changing the narrative. Broms and his team advocate for merchandising the Fantasy X-Tensions line not in “performance” sections, but alongside lubricants, massage oils, toy cleaners and other couple-focused items.

“This product belongs in a section that says ‘Let’s get closer,’ not ‘Let’s go bigger,’” Broms emphasizes. “It’s a mindset shift. And when stores get it right, they see results.”

Pipedream also provides tactile tester units that allow customers to experience the dual-density texture firsthand.

“We encourage signage that focuses on benefits like ‘lightweight for closeness,’ ‘soft for comfort,’ and ‘designed for connection,’” Broms says. “That kind of language goes so much further than just listing specs or measurements.”

Built for real life, priced for real people

Despite premium materials and complex construction, the Fantasy X-Tensions hollow strap-ons are priced accessibly, something Broms says was a deliberate part of the product strategy.

“We’re using medical-grade silicone and dual-density construction, but we didn’t want to price people out of intimacy,” he says. “These are tools for emotional and physical wellness. Everyone deserves access to that.”

Retailers benefit as well, with products that turn quickly, offer healthy margins, and cater to an underserved and expanding demographic: older adults, post-surgical patients, and couples prioritizing wellness over novelty.

Pipedream’s 2025 sustainability goals have also influenced packaging design. The new boxes are fully recyclable and feature inclusive language, clean photography and clear benefits-based messaging.

“We wanted the packaging to feel welcoming and empowering not medical or intimidating,” Broms says. “When someone picks this up off the shelf, they should feel like they’re holding a solution, not a problem.”

Each box highlights the product’s benefits for couples experiencing ED, recovery-related intimacy changes, or anxiety around performance. Visuals show the products clearly, and phrasing is carefully chosen to reflect positivity, not pathology.

Ultimately, Pipedream is contributing to a bigger shift in the adult wellness space; one that moves away from unrealistic expectations and toward a more holistic understanding of sexuality.

“This isn’t about how long you last or how big you are,” Broms says. “It’s about being present. Being connected. Feeling close again.”

For couples who’ve struggled with changes in sexual function, products like these can offer a new chapter. Not a fix. Not a fantasy. Just a way back to one another.

“In many ways, this is the most meaningful work we’ve done,” Broms reflects. “Because when you help people find intimacy again, you’re giving them something that goes far beyond the bedroom.”
