sex positive nighstand

The sex-positive nightstand features a magnetic lock, lube warmer and in-drawer USB charging ports.

The nightstand drawer has long since been assigned the task of hiding condoms, lubes and sex toys, but there has never been a bedside table designed specifically for this purpose. That is until award-winning sex educator and empowerment coach Amory Jane met and fell in love with software engineer and woodworker, Lucas Swick. The two teamed up to bring Jane’s design for “the world’s most sex-positive nightstand” to life, while simultaneously igniting their brand Amory Design.

The Portland-based duo debuted the handmade nightstand, which retails between $750 and $900, during Kinkfest at the Portland Expo Center in March. Each feature is designed with the kinky customer in mind, including in-drawer USB charging ports, a built-in lube or oil warmer and a discreet magnetic lock with a dowel-like key.

Most notably, the drawers are specially designed with toys in mind and are strong enough to hold stainless steel, glass, hefty silicone and other hefty pleasure items. Each drawer features adjustable storage trays suitable to hold various toys, tools and other sensual products.

“We were kind of after something that could blend into your surroundings,” Swick tells Willamette Week. “The nightstand can be next to your bed and no one’s going to assume that it’s like—”

“—full of dongs,” Jane says, finishing his sentence.

For anyone whose sex toy collection won’t fit inside a couple of drawers, Amory Design recently added the Amory Chest to its collection. They shared some information on how the chest is built on their Instagram page, writing:

“The pattern is the output of a drawing program Lucas [Swick] wrote and it’s carved into the wood with a computer-controlled router. The rest of the Amory Chest is built by hand, blending the precision of technology with the elegance of classic craftsmanship. The results are stunning!

“We can’t wait to see how the new owners fill this spacious lockable storage chest with all sorts of toys, implements and other goodies…or maybe the lovely folks we met at Kinkfest will just wholesomely store their extra linens and blankets in it.”

The Amory Nightstand is currently only available for pickup in Portland, Oregon. Check it out at www.amory.design.
