The magical throne sculpture is greeting the public via Good Vibes’ storefront window!

November 8, 2022 (San Francisco, CA) – Vibratex, the sole North American importer of the Magic Wandbrand, is pleased to announce that its “Pleasure as Art” commissioned piece will be on display later this month at the Good Vibrations downtown location in San Francisco, CA. The piece is located prominently in the Good Vibrations store window facing busy Mission Street, marking the sculpture’s first truly public display.

“Our whole team is excited for this opportunity,” explained Vibratex CEO Ken Herskovitz. “We’re so grateful for our friends at Good Vibrations and can’t wait to share the piece with everyone who drives or walks by their storefront.”

Vibratex commissioned Miami-based artist Dafne Blade to create the massive sculpture, which makes use of 100 decommissioned wands and features a highly detailed, original painting. The resulting piece – which Mashable referred to as “not only stunning, but evocative of ‘Game of Thrones’” – and its residency at Good Vibes mark yet another chapter in Vibratex’s strong and lengthy partnership with the iconic retailer.

In fact, Magic Wand has been a major part of Good Vibrations’ story from the very start. Back in the day, Good Vibrations founder Joani Blank would buy “back massagers” from mainstream retailers to then sell in stores for customers seeking a different kind of buzz. Having the sculpture on display at Good Vibrations is a great new chapter in this collaborative history.

“I couldn’t be more excited to bring this piece to our storefronts, to display this for our customers, staff, and passers-by alike to view,” explained Lisa Finn, Marketing Director for Good Vibrations.

“This sculpture is so powerful – and I don’t mean that just because it’s got 100 powerhouse vibrators incorporated into it – but because of the feelings of passion, intimacy, and the idea of embracing our pleasure as a form of art that it evokes,” Finn continued. “Dafne Blade’s work is something truly striking, and I hope that anyone in the Bay Area takes the chance to come and see their piece in person with us.”

Vibratex’s “Pleasure as Art” piece has drawn mainstream and industry praise following its appearance at both Altitude and ANME trade shows earlier this year. Most recently, the sculpture was on display as part of Las Vegas’ Erotic Heritage Museum’s (EHM) “Sex in Space” exhibit. During that time, Magic Wand and the EHM hosted a reception with artist Blade, who shared some of their creative process and experiences with an intimate in-person audience.

The ”Pleasure as Art” piece will be visible in the large window at Good Vibrations’ Mission Street store – located at 899 Mission Street San Francisco, CA 94103 — starting in mid-November through the winter season. The store is open daily from noon – 8 pm.
