June is Pride month — an entire month dedicated to the uplifting of LGBTQ+ voices, celebration of culture and the support of LGBTQ+ rights. A 30 day period in which many businesses and large corporations commercialize and commodify LGBTQ+ movements. “Rainbow capitalism,” also known as “pinkwashing,” exploits marginalized communities by turning them into markets. That’s not to discredit businesses who tailor their advertising or change their logo colors in genuine support of the community. But nice words and visible images of solidarity are often not enough.

In September of 2021, the Nu Sensuelle team launched a rebrand–better aligning the company with its mission of promoting inclusivity. While showing support during Pride month is a great way to demonstrate alliance with the community, the Nu Sensuelle team’s rebranding reiterates that it doesn’t have to be pride month in order to recognize the importance of celebrating and empowering individuals of all identities. While a new logo and rainbow brand colors were a necessary part of the rebrand, the company also took a huge step away from gendering its products by name and color, and instead continue to create versatile products catered towards users of all gender identities, sexualities, body types, and relationships.

This pride month, Nu Sensuelle will be expanding its support of the LGBTQ+ community. On Friday June 17th, Nu Sensuelle plans to hold a virtual art auction in which proceeds from the biddings will be donated to The Trevor Project — a non profit organization that specializes in suicide prevention for LGBTQ+ youth. Earnings from the auction will help provide 24/7 crisis services free of charge, expand the organization’s digital crisis services to reach more youth, train volunteers, and enable their work with policymakers to pass legislation protecting marginalized groups.

Participants will have the opportunity to win some incredible works from talented artists such as iscreamcolour, Ida Lindbæk, Zeppelin Dufour, Canvas Kickss, and more! If you are interested in donating a piece of artwork or merchandise, please email lauren@nusensuelle.com.

The auction is scheduled to close at 10 AM EST on Wednesday June 22 and winning bidders will be notified to make their payments out to Communications Coordinator, Lauren Schwartz, on Venmo (@laur-schwartz). Not interested in bidding? Nu Sensuelle will be accepting donations, as well. Unleash your philanthropic side and let the countdown begin!
